Heart to Heart

In addition to February being Black History Month, it is also Heart Health Month.  Congratulations to Barack Hussein Obama for being America’s first African American President! It does my heart good to think about the wonderful contribution his accomplishment adds to American history.

This month I am inviting you to pay attention to your heart. Over the past years I have taken the necessary steps to do just this.  I’ve lost some weight, reduced my cholesterol levels, started paying attention to what I eat, and started exercising up to five days a week.  In addition, I’ve done some other heart work.  Loving and forgiving myself. Truthfully, there are times the spiritual efforts to take care of my heart are more challenging than the physical ones.

Below is a list of steps you can take to improve the heart health:

1.      Avoid unhealthy fats
2.      Eat more fruits and  vegetables
3.      Eat whole grains
4.      Watch your salt intake
5.      Practice forgiveness
6.      Nurture yourself
7.      Smile

Thank you for sharing this sacred space with me.
