Spring: Reflection and Renewal

Sunday, April 12th, 2009 by Rev. Sheila

Happy Passover!  Happy Easter!

Today is Easter.  Easter is my favorite holiday.  Why?  I love jelly beans!  Lol!  It is also during this time that one of my favorite movies is broadcasted, The Ten Commandments. When I was a child, I always looked forward to watching The Ten Commandment on TV Easter evening.

As I have grown, I have come to enjoy Easter on a different level.  I understand the Easter season to be a time of rebirth—both physically and spiritually. The earth starts to burst with color and activity.  Our lawns go from brown to green.  Flowers blooms and birds sing and soar.  It is a time of reflection and renewal.  A time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.

During this time, we can wake up some of those things that have been slumbering in our hearts and minds.  What has been on your heart and mind for some time now?  Is it time to release it?  Is it time to cultivate it?

I, for one, have been rejuvenated these past months.  I had been thinking about starting an exercise regime for years.  Well, I few months ago started a walking program.  I have been working on a regular basis for over 12 weeks.  I feel great!  My body, mind, and spirit have been in a state of renewal.

I invite you to spend some time during the rest of this month in reflection and spring forth in action.  Thank you for sharing this sacred space with me.

Happy Spring!
